On the evening of 15th July 2018, World Chinese 8-Ball Masters #2: Siping Station held by Joy Group came to an end, Zheng Yubo and Yang Fan, two hottest Chinese players, met in the final. Finally, Yang bore down Zheng by 19-18 and won the champion reward of 100,000 RMB.
Ranked 8th on the ICEA rankings, Yang Fan started his battle from stage 3. On his road to glory, he defeated Yu Lei by a big 13-4 and Shan Hongyu by 13-8 in stage 3 then continued with triumphs over Chao Lumen 15-12, Yang Ru 15-7, then Qiu Paomou 15-14 and knocked down ex-snooker player Abu Lajiang 17-8 in the Semi-final.
Zheng Yubo had a long way to go because of his absence from the 2018 season Masters Linyi Station. A recent drop to No. 46 in the ICEA rankings left him out of seeded players group and made him start from stage 1. However, with a 10-match winning streak in 9 days, this young master didn't betray expectations of fans, making no secret of his ambitions.
The final was a race to 19 with a 120-min time limit. Yang Fan was up 3-1 before Zheng regained his form in the next six racks, three break-and-run, and two clearances saw Zheng turning the tide 7-3. The heat was on as the scoreline turned to 11-9, 15-12, 17-17. Yang won the 35th rack and had two match points in hand, only to witness the potting sensation broke and ran the next frame to pull the score back to 18-18. Yang showed his coolness and ran out in the deciding frame, declaring his first tour victory in 2018. Meanwhile, this marks a stunning 9th World Chinese 8-Ball Masters station event's win for Yang Fan.
