ICEA Interview with Jeffrey Ignacio!

2018 World Chinese 8-Ball Masters #2 Siping Station had finished two weeks ago, and the Shuangyashan Station gets underway in merely two weeks. Seeking an even better result, pro American pool player Jeffrey Ignacio from the Philippines will embark on his journey to the Northeastern China for a second time this year. Will he become stronger as the season goes on? We did a quick interview with Jeffrey via Facebook messenger, and let's have a look at his concerns and ambitions in the field of Chinese 8-ball.

1.Q: What do you think about the trip to Siping? Did you have fun?

A: Yes I had a lot of fun in Siping. I met a lot of friends and celebrated my birthday there. :)

Note: We threw a birthday surprise to Jeffrey Ignacio during the Siping event - without him in the know, we bought a cake and sang a song for him at the end of an activity on July 5. You can find videos on our page!

2.Q: What are some of the differences in play between Chinese 8-ball and American pool?

A: Every time I play on Chinese 8-ball table, I just used the same mechanism and strategy in pool. But there are a lot of differences, including the pocket and the cushion.

3.Q: How do you feel when you play top Chinese 8-ball players? Very confident, or a bit nervous?

A: I feel a bit nervous because I know my chance is too low to beat a top Chinese player - because I don't have much experience in it. But I will work hard to become a solid player in Chinese 8-ball and watch some best Chinese 8-ball players' matches.

4.Q: Actually you are good Jeffrey. Some of the top Chinese players also watch your matches on Youtube. So you should have confidence in that.

Do you think Chinese 8-ball will play a bigger role in your future career?

A: Yes, it will be a big role in my future. Because Chinese 8-ball sport gets a lot of exposure and that Chinese 8-ball offers more prize money than American pool.

Like just I said, I will work hard to become a solid Chinese 8-ball player. I love Chinese 8-ball because it's more challenging. I need to play more Chinese 8-ball and watch more top Chinese players' matches to learn some techniques.

5.Q: Any goals in future Chinese 8-ball tournaments?

A: Yeah my goal is to win a Chinese 8-ball event in the future. I will do my best to make it happen.
