After a day of fierce competition, another 24 players were eliminated. Having little margin for mistakes, every shot was crucial to survival. It required players not only to have exquisite skills, but also a steady mentality.
Abraham Niyaz’s performance could be seen as a textbook example of shootout. He trailed nearly the whole match against Zhang Limin. At the last gap, he leveled the score and forced shootout. And then it was time of shootout teaching by Mr. Abraham. He made all his four shots without even one miss! His performance completely amazed the audience. With perfect accuracy, he defeated Zhang and entered the final sixteen.
Zheng Yubo picked up Burmese player Phone Myint Kyaw . Trailing 5-10, instead of flustered, he concentrated on the match from top to the bottom. Awaking from the shadow of faults, he was definitely in his zone. The gap was constantly narrowed until the match was tied 13-13. Then came the most exciting shootout. Phone made the first one but Yubo hit the target without a miss in the following 3 shots. So far, the last international player was knocked out.
Zhang Kunpeng, member of ICEA International Dream Team avenged his teammate Wang Yun by defeating Li Xiaopeng 15-11. Then he met Yang Fan, who was on form in the tournament. Before their battle, almost all of Yang Fan’s victory was a heavy score. Finally Kunpeng performed better and won this critical match 15-9.
Kunpeng’s another teammate Liu Chuang was downed by rising star Zhao Ruliang. Struggling 27 racks, Liu Chuang still failed to turn the tide. Finally he swallowed a narrow defeat 13-14.
The remaining 8 players will compete for the 2 spots of the final.
