The rainy weather in Huanan did not affect the enthusiasm of the players. Their fierce competition almost ignited the entire venue. Fantastic matches served a Chinese Pool feast to the audience.
Reza Hassan from Malaysia met experienced Chinese player Zhang Daowei. Zhang was in better form in this tough match and defeated Reza Hassan 7-4. Jeffrey “Cobra” Ignacio displayed dominant performance against Han Xiaowei with commanding firepower. The match was plain sailing for Jeffrey from the start. He rapidly established a leading edge and continued to widen the gap, the end score was 7-1.
The match between Fukuda Yutaka and Wang Li embodied “Friendship first, competition second”. The two players were on a par in 10 racks. The game was taken to the shootout at 5-5. In the end, Wang Li secured a narrow victory over Fukuda thanks to his performance in the shootout. After the game, Fukuda showed great sportsmanship as he embraced his opponent with laughter and joy.
Ryan Gilfellow’s opponent was Guan Zhen, a skillful Chinese Pool player. Although Ryan played very well and made quite a few brilliant shots, Guan's performance was extremely stable. He made almost no mistakes in the whole match. In the end it was a 7-3 victory as a matter of course.
